Citation For Paul Harris Sapphire Star

Jeremy Spanjaard

Citation by Lionel Nunns at Changover 2nd July 2015.

We hear about having a ‘Rotary moment’ – an experience that makes being a Rotarian very special. This is such a moment for me.

Tonight the club has the pleasure in awarding one of our members a PHF Sapphire Star, a rare honour.

Jeremy Spanjaard joined this club in 2000, becoming its President in 2008-2009 – a presidency that show-cased his high skills and personable manner.

Despite the challenge of changing health, Jeremy then served the District in the capacity of Assistant Governor for both Deb Gimblett’s and Antony Scott’s DG years.

Jeremy’s standing as a Rotarian, to my mind, is that of elder statesman … someone who has worked tirelessly and wisely amongst us, with wife Vivienne always at his side.

Jeremy is known throughout as being:

  • Fair in judgement
  • Gentle and Diplomatic in dealing with all
  • Thorough in pursuing Rotary goals.

Jeremy is a credit to Rotary and to our club, and is well loved by us all.
