The Rotary Youth Leadership Award is a five-day programme for potential leaders, between the ages of 18 and 24. It is a Programme run by Rotary throughout the world. All participants are sponsored in full, either by a Rotary Club or by an organisation. In district 9940 RYLA is run at the Silverstream Retreat, Wellington from 25-29 January 2017.
Two nominations, by our Club, attended RYLA 2016. Jennifer Young and Jo-Ann Chin. For RYLA 2017 Logan Byrne and Lucy Ryan have been sucessfully nominated and will attend.
Nominations for 2017 are now closed but applications for 2018 will open on 1 May 2017.
If you want to apply for 2018, you will be someone who has demonstrated potential as a leader in your community, your studies, your workplace, sports team or the arts.
The objective of the programme is to develop those personal and leadership skills. You can apply through one of the Rotary clubs in Rotary District 9940 (the lower half of the North Island) or through a sponsor, such as your employer.
The RYLA programme recognises, encourages and educates future leaders by offering them this intensive leadership training experience. The programme demonstrates Rotary’s commitment to developing future leaders, by encouraging them to be the best they can be.

Each year an elite group of future leaders is selected to attend RYLA. Graduates of previous RYLA programmes report that RYLA was fantastic opportunity to develop their skills, have fun, and meet an enthusiastic group of like minded people.
